Dog Licensing

No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich. -Louis Sabin

Owning a dog in Mt. Crested Butte requires that you pay a small fee and that the dog be licensed and tagged at all times.

To obtain a dog license, stop by Mt. Crested Butte Town Hall. Proof of rabies vaccination will be required to obtain the license. Fees to accompany the vaccination certificate are $15 or $5 if the dog has been spayed/neutered. Licenses are not transferable and non-refundable, and are renewed every two years. Keep in mind that Gunnison County also requires that you keep a record of rabies vaccination - every two years for dogs over three years of age, and every year for any dog under one year.

Running at Large

Please keep your dog on a leash or under control at all times in Mt. Crested Butte - you are responsible and liable for them!

Keep them in control when around pedestrians, bikers and other moving vehicles - for their safety and ours.

Our dogs love Mt. Crested Butte as much as we do, so to avoid a ticket or warning, and allow us all to enjoy our playground, be sure to keep a close watch on your dog at all times.
