Mt. Crested Butte Community Plan

In early 2006, the Town of Mt. Crested Butte initiated the process to begin writing a revised Community Plan.

The first step in this process was the development and distribution  of a Community Survey. This Survey was sent to Town residents, business owners, and second home owners. The results were compiled into an Executive Summary and incorporated into the Community Plan.

Another step in the Community Plan process was the formation of multiple committees. Each committee focused on a specific area of community needs and goals. The committees were comprised of local volunteers and decision-makers from the community. Each committee was tasked with identifying, detailing, and prioritizing specific goals and solutions that are essential to sound long-term community growth for the Town of Mt. Crested Butte. Each committee held multiple meetings  and, as a result of these meetings, authored an Action Plan which outlines the steps needed to accomplish the identified goals and policies that pertain each specific area of concern.

The resulting committee work was weaved into a draft Community Plan that was analyzed, summarized, and then presented to the Mt. Crested Butte Planning Commission in a series of public meetings in 2006 and 2007.

The resulting document is a comprehensive long-term plan for the Town of Mt. Crested Butte.
